One year after launching AWD, I keep coming back to a simple question: what does it mean to be seen?
Building eyewear is an act of definition. You choose a shape, a material, a color, and a point of view. Then you release it into the world and let someone else make it part of their own expression.
That process has taught me that visibility is not only about attention. It is about allowing the work to carry your beliefs, even when the response is unpredictable. Every frame, campaign, conversation, and decision becomes a quiet declaration of what you stand for.
It can feel safer to stay behind the camera, keep refining the idea, or wait until everything feels perfectly ready. But a brand cannot be built entirely from hiding places. At some point, you have to step forward and let the work—and the person behind it—be received.
That is what AWD has become for me: a practice in self-expression. Sunglasses can create a little distance, but the right pair can also help you enter the world on your own terms. They do not need to disguise who you are. They can give shape to the part of you that is already there.
A year in, I am less interested in being louder and more interested in being present. To dare to be visible is to trust your point of view, share the work before certainty arrives, and make room for others to recognize themselves in it.
Dare to be.
